            While we know that economics in the U.S. is dominated by the mainstream, that domination is far from absolute, and their abysmal failure to understand or describe the U.S. economy over the last several decades means many departments are actually looking for heterodox economics (even if only to mix into their mainstream departments). Still, particularly as a heterodox economist, how you construct your cover letter for applying for a job, and conduct your job interviews, are extremely important to achieving success, more so than for mainstream economists who are applying as acolytes of the dominant neoclassical social apologetic.
