TOWARD A CRITICAL POLITICAL SCIENCE
February 26 – February 28, 2017
Isla Grand Beach Resort
South Padre Island, Texas
In 1967, the burgeoning discontent of many political scientists culminated in the establishment of the Caucus for a New Political Science. The Caucus includes political scientists of many diverse viewpoints, but it is united methodologically by a critique of extreme behavioralism and by the idea that political science should abandon the myth of a value-free science. Since its founding 50 years ago, political scientists have authored numerous commentaries on the tragedy of political science, the crisis in political science, the flight from reality in political science, and the end of political science. The 50th Anniversary Conference of the Caucus for a New Political Science will provide an ideologically progressive and methodologically diverse platform for advancing a critical political science that fundamentally redefines the purposes, categories, and politics of political science.
The Conference organizers are seeking paper and panel proposals in the following broad areas:
Capitalism & Globalization
The State & Political Power
Class & Class Conflict
Race & Ethnicity
