Dear URPErs,

URPE will once again organize panels at the World Social Science Association’s annual conference. Any topic relevant to radical political economy is welcome. Also encouraged are pedagogy papers and roundtable discussions of books or important issues. The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2027.

To submit an abstract, roundtable or panel, create an account and go to https://wssaconference.com/2027-submit-abstract

When you submit, the first thing you do is to select a section. This is where you would select Union for Radical Political Economics. You could also select Economics (Association For Institutional Thought) or Economics (Association for Social Economics). URPE generally constructs panels at the WSSA in partnership with AFIT and ASE. In the past, URPE sessions have been cross listed with AFIT and ASE.

Do not select Economics (General) unless you want to be part of a mainstream panel.

Along with ICAPE and the Easterns, the WSSA is an excellent conference for heterodox economists. The WSSA is a very left group of social scientists with the largest subgroup working on borderland studies. They always organize events with local activists and a fundraiser for a local food bank. AFIT is also a group with a lot of connections to radical political economy via radical institutionalism and post-Keynesianism.

There is no overarching theme for the URPE sessions.  We will have at least one panel on teaching and pedagogy. Submissions from graduate students are especially welcome. We organize graduate student panels to offer productive and positive feedback.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

In solidarity,
Geoff Schneider
